Dedication Ceremony For New Ellerbrock Logistics Centre



Eight years ago, Ellerbrock Reifenrunderneuerungs-Technologie GmbH proudly showed off its new factory in Henstedt- Ulzburg, on the outskirts of Hamburg.

The factory, which produces tyre retreading equipment, was one of the most modern of its kind and represented a considerable investment by Ellerbrock. The plot of land measured 26,300 square metres, of which 11,250 sq.m was devoted to production, storage and management.

At the time, few would have thought that further expansion would be needed within such a short period of time, but this is exactly what has happened - the demand for retreading material has continued to grow both at home and abroad, necessitating more space for factory expansion and enlargement of storage areas.

So it was that there was another ceremony to mark the opening of a modern logistics centre for storage and distribution, with personnel moving into the new premises last month. The floor space is 14,000 sq.m and the first part of the expansion project involves a storage area and staff floor space of 4,300 sq.m. The subsequent space feed up in the main building has already been allocated for factory expansion.

Ellerbrock supplies not only consumable items for retreaders, but machinery and advice. The company has found that increased environmental awareness, and the desire to save money, have led to renewed interest in retreading and thus an increase in Ellerbrock´s business. The direct result of this is the opening of the new facility - and who is willing to bet that the new venture will not be the last?

Treads And Compounds

Ellerbrock supplies three different types of precure tread strips, depending on what the customer requires.

Firstly, there is the flat tread with wings, for better fit to the tyre casing. The third type is the Kontur, in which the base of the tread is slightly concave, following the profile of the casing, for an even better fit. The appearance of the Kontur is more aesthetically pleasing too, plus Ellerbrock claims that it offers superior mileage and better stability.

Ellerbrock also produces a wide range of compounds which can be prepared to meet individual customer´s specifications. As a result, the number of compounds produced is exceptionally large in order to ensure that the exact compound is made for the each job. Great attention is paid to quality at all stages of the process, and this begins with a tough homologation procedure before a raw materials are accepted by the company. Ellerbrock is, as you might expect, ISO accredited and the company has a policy of total quality management.
